The Struggle Of The Young Man
Being a young man with a raging amount testosterone is great. That period, 18-25 especially. You’re free for the most part. You have your future ahead of you and it’s fantastic…in that moment…for most people.
The flip side of this is that you’re ruled by your hormones. Testosterone is a great thing, but it also causes many, many issues for men.
It’s something women can truly never understand, and as much as we can talk about “taking personal responsibility”, for the vast majority of young guys, this the period where they’ll be doing things that they’ll regret much later in life.
The urges of young men are known by everyone. Throughout nature, the male species is ruled by his sex drive, and while nature decided that this is a good thing so that the species can do whatever is needed to procreate, it comes with many pitfalls.
How To Master Your Domain
What I tell all men to do is to master this part of their life. Don’t let your sex drive control you.
Again, these aren’t things taught in school. Your taught sex-ed, but that’s about it. You get how babies are made and learn about STI’s. Great. But, does anyone even mention the role of testosterone in other parts of your life? There’s a whole other side to this that needs to be taught and isn’t.
So how do you control (as best as any man can) this? Here’s some advice:
- Hit The Gym 4-5 Days A Week
This is a big one. Regular exercise will help keep your mind focused and sharp. Instead of thinking about sex all the time, you’re training your mind to be more disciplined and engaged in other activities.
- Have A Passion That You Do Everyday (Even if it’s for free, and this doesn’t include sex)
Do something that you love to do everyday, even if it’s for free. Whether it’s a business idea or volunteering or hitting the pool. The key is to do something that you wake up in the morning excited to do.
This can’t be emphasized enough. Travel is something everyone should be doing. It’ll open your eyes to how other people live. You’ll experience different cultures and develop a taste for new experiences.
Not on your phone, but an actual book. Read things that actually interest you to keep you in to it.
It isn’t complicated. The point of your life is to pursue your passions and to not be ruled by any one thing, especially your sex drive.
